[Nfbmo] FW: Supporting the CRPD

Good afternoon, folks. Please read the message below from Jesse Hartle. You
will remember that some of our Senators and Representatives oppose the
treaty based on a concern that it would let foreign governments dictate our
domestic policy. They were waiting for a Supreme Court ruling to clarify the
issue, and apparently it has. We have the right to make our own laws, and no
international law will supersede it.

Sen. Roy Blunt is the person who needs to help us. Please see the message
below. Thank you.

Subject: Supporting the CRPD

Good Afternoon,

As you know we have been working with a number of groups on
ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities,
(CRPD). Supportive Republican Senators have asked us to reach out to a
number of their Republican colleagues to help persuade them to join in
support of the CRPD as well. Senator Blunt of Missouri is on this list, and
it would be helpful to get some calls or emails in to his office next week
to register support for the treaty. I have pasted his staff contact on this
issue below. We should let the Senator's office know that this legislation
is supported by disability groups from around the Country, major Veteran's
groups such as the American Legion, and the United States Chamber of
Commerce representing American business. I would appreciate any help you can
provide on this matter, and would be able to answer any questions. Thank
you as always for all that you do. Jesse
