Subject: [Missouri Chat] How to Handle Co-pays under Medicare Part D
Hi to All:
There is considerable confusion regarding those Blind Pension recipients who
have signed up for Medicare Part D and co-payments to the pharmacy. Many
are
being charged far higher co-payments than they have experienced in the past.
This should not be happening. Your co-pays should be similar if not
identical
to what you paid under Mo Healthnet.
The problem appears to be the mannner in which your pharmacist bills the
prescription. First, the pharmacist should charge Medicare Part D. When
the
co-payment comes up, then the pharmacist is to use your Mo Healthnet card to
bill against the co-payment. The payment code to be used is MOHEALTHNET.
Your
pharmacist is used to using MORX. But, if MORX is used the co-payment will
be
denied. The pharmacist MUST use MOHEALTHNET.
If a situation like this happens to you and you just can't get it resolved
with
the pharmacist, you can call and talk with ANgela at MO Healthnet. Her
phone
number is (573) 522-9882.
I hope this is helpful for those having this problem. Please feel free to
distribute this note around Missouri.
Thank you.
Chris
