Two problems have come to my attention regarding BP cases that have converted to Part D Medicare for drug coverage.
First, some folks have had a premium deducted from their January Social Security Checks. This should not happen and results from recipients checking one box incorrectly on the application form. If you had a Part D premium deducted from your Social Security check call the health plan and request that they refund the premium and change it so that you are billed. Explain that the State of Missouri will be paying the premium. They may send you a payment book but do not pay the premiums. Of course, you are still responsible for paying the Part B premium which is already deducted from your Social Security usually $104.90.
Second, When some pharmacies added folks to Part D plans they made an error and changed the MO HealthNet coverage to MO Rx which results in higher copayments. No covered drug should have a copay of more than $2.00 just as before the changes. So, check your receipts and make sure you are not being overcharged. If so, talk to the pharmacy and tell them to make sure that you are on regular fee for service MO Healthnet and you understand that copays should not exceed the $2.00 allowed. They should refund or credit you the difference.
On another related note lots of folks have gotten notices that they are subject to a L E P or Late Enrollment Penalty. Mo HealthNet is working with all six plans to resolve this problem as they do not wish to incur the costs themselves. Of course, if any of us would ever not need BP anymore because of something like an inheritance we would then be paying the higher premium. Mo HealthNet assures me that these problems will be resolved.
