[Nfbmo] Subminimum Wage help needed

We need folks to go to the Ways and Means meeting this Thursday that will
consider what to recommend to the board of alderman about removing the
disabled from the minimum wage that has been passed there. While it is
helpful to turn out as many folks as we can from St. Louis, others might
find it instructive to listen to and perhaps be a part of the debate. This
issue not only concerns us because we are interested in blind people who
live in St. Louis but also because one of the supporters of our subminimum
wage phaseout legislation represents the St. Louis area. A failure to see
that blind people receive the same minimum wage protections in St. Louis
that other citizens of that area do will not be helpful in maintaining his
support.

People who can come to St. Louis are encouraged to do so to be a part of
this meeting. Apparently the meeting will begin at 9 AM, and sense the
Council chamber only holds about 100 people, it is a good idea for us to try
to arrive early - perhaps on the order of 7 AM.

If there is sufficient interest, I can certainly pull the Board of Directors
to see if some funding can be made available for this. I believe that it
would be helpful if we had a good turnout from our board as well.

Warmly,

Gary
