I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who took the time to
observe the passing of my father John wonder. Our family appreciates every
thought, every concern, and every prayer that was focused on my father's
passage, our grieving, and our recovery.

In many respects my father was a very blessed man. Throughout most of his
eighty-eight years he enjoyed tremendous health both mentally and
physically. He made nearly complete recoveries after a heart attack and a
stroke, but, after two more strokes, congestive heart failure, the loss of
most of his strength on the right side, a continuous quivering on his left,
worn-out ankles, knees, hips, and a back that always hurt, even the
strongest man I've ever known could no longer regard his life is a blessing.
So our hearts hurt, but we know that death was a far better conclusion than
continuing to suffer in pain, boredom, and frustration.

My dad and I spent a lot of time talking about politics and religion, and as
he got older and I got more assertive, the former became a topic of tension.
In religion he was a seeker, almost praying for a ghost to scare him so that
at least he would know there was a life after this one. He now knows, and I
hope we get a chance to laugh with one another about all the speculation we
did when so soon we would both be destined to learn the answer to the
biggest question in life.

Thank you again. Your words help to carry me and my family, for it is always
good to know one is surrounded by love.
