Changes in vision loss comes with learning some new or different ways of
living life the way you want. Although we say that blindness does not
prevent us from doing the things we desire , but transition into these new
ways is not always as simple as that phrase.
This call last month for me was a wonderful experience. I heard from
others about techniques they use, or things they have discovered a new way
to do that old thing. It was also a place where folks were able to discuss
the sadness, or fear of their new vision loss.
We found this call to be a place where we could openly share all the
feelings that go along with this change. We discussed ways to better include
members with usable vision to still use that vision by using all tools they
may have in their tool box. We discussed that the National Federation of the
Blind belongs to us all, no matter where our level of vision falls, and how
to improve, and welcome everyone at whatever their level of vision is.
This was a most uplifting and upbeat call.
Please join us at 8:30, call in number 712 432 0180, access code 1774
