Helen Parker is our president of the South-Central Chapter. As some of you
may know, she is in her early 90s. To pass down some of the memories she
thought crucial for her family, she has written a book. It is good reading.
She has given us permission to make an audio copy of it, which I have done
using synthetic speech.

Assuming we can manage it, those of you who would like the book either in
audio format or in text should bring your special player to the convention.
It should be no trouble, assuming we can find the time, for me to provide
you with an audio copy. If you want us to provide you a copy on an NLS book
cartridge, the cost will be five dollars. Anything we make over the cost of
the cartridge will be sent to the South-Central Chapter, and I would
encourage any of you who bring your own media to think about making a five
dollar donation we can send to them.

This book won't change your life, but it certainly will give you some
appreciation for the resourcefulness of Helen Parker and some appreciation
of what it was like to live is a blind person starting in the 1920s.

Warmly,

Gary
