This note is written to encourage everyone interested in attending the
Washington Seminar with the help of the state affiliate to submit their
names to me no later than December 1, 2016. The state affiliate has
appropriated $750 for four people, and in making a decision about who will
receive affiliate support, I am to try to get good geographic
representation, a smattering of veteran attendees and those who are new at
it, and to make our delegation in Washington as representative of our
affiliate as I can.

It is doubtful that the money provided by the affiliate will meet all of
your expenses, but if you share a room with several people, it will come
close. Meals are expensive; transportation can be, so we share in rides.

The great gathering in meeting will be at 5 PM on Monday, January 30, 2017.
Some of us will want to arrive early to take advantage of role-playing and
other legislative training that occurs on Monday, and those who are students
may wish to attend the daylong student seminar which precedes the great
gathering in meeting. Meetings on Capitol Hill will be scheduled for
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Although we will try to get the bulk of
them accomplished in the first two days, try not to leave too early on
Thursday.

Although we make the case that we are a statewide organization and cannot
afford to send a person from each congressional district, the broader our
representation the better the Congress likes it. They are glad to see
Missourians; they are even happier to visit with constituents.

Warmly,

Gary
