[Nfbmo] I am thankful for the Federation

Hello, friends:

I started thinking today about the many things that I am grateful for. Many of those things would not be possible were it not for the founding of the NFB in 1940. Because of the tireless efforts of generations of Federationists past and present, I have acquired the tools and resources that allow me to live independently. We take many things for granted nowadays. For example, when I came to Kansas City, I had no trouble renting an apartment and obtaining renter's insurance. In addition, technology has made our lives much simpler and the NFB has had a great role in partnering with companies who develop these technologies. From the very beginning, the NFB concerned itself with Social Security. I am grateful that I was able to make use of this benefit while I obtained the necessary skills of blindness and job training to eventually obtain employment.

I know there is much work to be done, but I think the glass is half full. I am privileged to be part of an organization in which I have the opportunity to contribute to our well-being as blind people.

I hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving!

Regards

Daniel Garcia
