I completely agree with your assessment of Uber and Lift, though I have 
not had the opportunity to use these services myself.

Today we waited 45 minutes for a cab to take us from the hotel to the train station. There is no good reason for this. When we got to Kansas City, there was an Uber ride within 3 minutes and we were home 20 minutes later. The cab companies would garner more support and sympathy for their position if they actually made an effort to provide a better service.
