ood afternoon,

I thought it would be helpful, along with the others who have posted
their qualifications for office, if I posted my qualifications for
Corresponding Secretary.

I am a lifetime member of the NFBMO and I have been a member of the
Springfield chapter for 4 years. I was the Treasurer of the
Springfield chapter, Vice-President, the President for two years and
Now, I am the Secretary/Treasurer. During my tenure as President, our
chapter established a relationship with the local elementary schools by
which our members visited the classrooms engaging the young people on
what it is like to be blind, how guide dogs are helpful and what they
can do to engage blind students. The successful 2016 State Convention
was also held in Springfield to which I gave oversight and leadership.

On the State level, I have been a Board member for three years. I
have been the Corresponding Secretary for two of those years. I have
attended three Jefferson City Seminars and helped put together our very
successful Leadership Seminar we had in Columbia in 2013. I have also
chaired the resolutions committee for the last two years, and I am
chairing it again this year.

I feel very qualified for this task because while working on my
doctorate degree I have had to spend time researching legal issues,
participated in persuasive writing and oral arguments, as well as analyzing and
synthesizing legal authority. I have also had to write appellate court
and trial briefs. All of these tasks have given me writing and
communication skills that have made me a dependable and thorough
Corresponding Secretary for the past two years.

I hope this information will help as you make an informed decision in
April. I would appreciate your vote at the State Convention.

Thank you.
Sincerely,

Erin Joy Magoon
