Below is exciting news. I received a call today on the Kansas City Chapter
line that our April 4 local election will be using new voting equipment
allowing accessible voting in this and all future elections in Platte
County. We have been asked to assist in getting the word out to voters in
Platte County. Below is an announcement about an open house on March 22
which will allow voters to get familiar with the equipment. If anyone is
interested in participating in this opportunity to see the machines before
the April 4 elections, please let me know.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Platte City, Missouri, March 15, 2017
The Platte County Board of Elections will introduce upgraded voting
equipment at the April 4, 2017 General Municipal election. While most
voters
may not notice the small differences in casting a ballot the new system
offers several levels of improved user interface, improved auditability,
and
more straightforward service compared to the old equipment which was
purchased in the 1990's and early 2000's.
"We really hope this move will make everyone's election-day run more
smoothly" said Wendy Flanigan, Republican Director.
"One of the most exciting features of the new system is that we can now
offer independent voting for visually impaired voter at all elections
rather
than only Federal and State Elections" added Chris Hershey, Democratic
Director.
The Election Board will host an open house to showcase the new equipment at
2600 NW Prairie View Road in Platte City on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from
2:00 to 4:00 p.m..
The Platte County Board of Elections administers Federal, State and local
elections as well as voter registration. The office at 2600 NW Prairie View
Road, Platte City, MO 64079 is open Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00
