Social Security Disability and Retirement benefits will increase by 1.6% beginning with checks in January.
Currently Medicare Part B premiums for most folks are
$135.50 but Medicare has yet to announce the new amount for 2020.
You can still figure out your gross amount by adding $135.50 and your monthly check and multiplying that by 1.016.
For example R2D2’s monthly check is $1111, so, 135.50 plus 1111.00 =$1,246.5 times 1.016 = 1266.44 you drop the pennies and the amount comes to $1,266.00 This should put you within a dollar or two of your gross amount pending whatever Medicare decides to do with their Part B premiums.
Also, if you have a Medicare advantage plan those premiums will affect the amount of your check, Medicare.Com boasts that these particular premiums are going down for most people.
Now for SSI the new maximum amounts are:
Single $783.00
Couple who are both eligible: $1,175.00
