Hello Members, Families, and Friends,

Below is a listing of current legislation that is important to the blind of
America. You can help by asking your Senators and Representatives to
cosponsor the bills shown below. Emails & phone calls are easy ways to reach
outto legislators. Please help us by making a call or sending an email by
Thanksgiving.

legislative action items include:

*         Access Technology Affordability Act (ATAA) (H.R. 3702/S. 1467):
Will improve affordability of critically needed access technology necessary
for employment and independent living.

* Medical Device Nonvisual Accessibility Act (H.R. 1328):
Inaccessible digital interfaces prevent blind individuals from independently
and safely operating medical devices that are essential to their daily
healthcare needs.

The Medical Device Nonvisual Accessibility Act will end unequal access to
medical devices for blind Americans by allowing the Food and Drug
Administration to set and enforce a minimum standard for nonvisual
accessibility that will apply to Class II and Class III medical devices such
as insulin pumps and CPAP machines.

* Transformation to Competitive integrated Employment Act (H.R.
1263/S. 533): This legislation will eliminate the practice of paying
subminimum wages to workers with disabilities by gradually phasing out
Section 14(c) of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938.

* Websites and Software Applications Accessibility Act (HR. 5813, S.
2984): Websites are required by law to be accessible, but without
implementing regulations most businesses and retailers have little
understanding of what accessible means. The Websites and Software
Applications Accessibility Act will end website and mobile application
inaccessibility for blind Americans. This is one way the national Federation
of the Blind and our Missouri Affiliate makes the world a better place for
all blind people.

Thank you for taking action!
