NaviLens might be a really good option for setting up accessibility in the capital and is very inexpensive. We know our state likes that. Lol.

Annette,
We have talked recently about seeing if the Capitol would get Good Maps or some similar system to install indoor navigation using an app to provide information that would identify various sites within the capitol.
We would love to familiarize Capitol officials with apps and tools designed to help blind and visually impaired visitors at the capitol to locate offices, meetings, and other points of interest within the Capitol. Such tools would also be helpful to other print handicap individuals.

The Brailling is not consistent on the outside of the offices. It is at differing heights and locations or sometimes missing altogether. Some of it is also very worn down.

Hello all,
My state representative Donna Baringer sent a letter to constituents stating that she is a member of the Missouri State Capitol Commission and how she is trying to make the capitol more ADA compliant. However, she only mentions accessibility for people in wheelchairs and people with crutches. I want to respond to her by saying that she needs to include the accessibility needs of people who are blind and visually impaired. I have not been to the capitol so don’t know what the problems are there. I have heard complaints from people with low vision that the marble floors and stairs are all one color and that it is hard to distinguish stairs. I have heard that there are monitors that visually show where various meetings are and when meeting rooms are changed, but these are not accessible. There is some kind of masterplan for capitol restoration in process which is supposed to consider citizen access and information and technology needs. If anyone knows of any other accessibility problems, please respond. Thanks.
Annette Nowakowski.
