Dear Federation Family,
I hope this message finds you well and energized for all the important work we continue to do together. I am honored to officially announce my candidacy for Second Vice President of the National Federation of the Blind of Missouri.
I am proud to represent the next generation of Federation leaders—those who are ready to carry our movement forward with new ideas, passion, and innovation needed to drive our volunteer efforts. The future of our affiliate depends on empowering young leaders to rise up, and I am ready to meet that call with dedication and with action, just as I had been doing on my current board member seat
My journey within the Federation has been grounded in advocacy and setting examples to live the life I want to live, and a deep belief in the power of collective action. Outside of the Federation, I am dedicated to serving our Missourians through my vocation of Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, where I help blind individuals secure and maintain competitive, integrated employment. In this role, I remind myself of how important our affiliate’s work is to reach out to all of our blind Missourians to invite them to a place where one can be surrounded by others who are walking along side them throughout their journey through blindness.
Throughout my involvements within the Federation, I’ve been humbleortunate to serve in several leadership roles within the Federation. I previously led the Missouri Association of Blind Students as president, working to expand our state’s reach and engage blind students in our organized blind movement. Nationally, I serve on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, appointed by President Riccobono, where we work to ensure every voice in our Federation is valued and uplifted.
Additionally, as part of the National Association of Blind Students, I spearheaded the NABS Now podcast initiative, a project that amplifies student voices and connects members across the country. I’m an active member of the Lewis & Clark Chapter and currently chair the Technology Committee, where we facilitate in person and virtual training sessions to our leadership and membership to promote the use of various mainstream and assistive technology devices to enrich and enhance the quality of lives of all blind and low vision individuals, an effort lead by the committee fully comprised of blind members.
I am grateful for the mentors who have paved the way and for giving me the chance to continue building a Federation along side the rest of you. I believe the role of Second Vice President requires the next generation of fresh bold ideas, commitment, and the ability to listen and lead—and I am ready to rise to that challenge.
I look forward to connecting with many of you in the days ahead at our annual state convention and continuing our shared work toward equality and opportunity for all blind people.
All the best.
Seyoon

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members
and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not
the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
