Research Participation Request: The Lived Experiences of Visually 
Impaired Professionals (VIPs)



The below research participant solicitation is being provided for 
informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has 
no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may 
contribute to our research mission.




Research Title: The Lived Experiences of Visually Impaired Professionals (VIPs)

Being conducted by: Walden University


Purpose of the Study

To gain an understanding of the challenges and successes VIPs 
encounter in their workplace experiences. To use this empirical 
evidence to inform employers and policy decisions to increase 
inclusivity and equity for visually impaired workers.





Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study

This is a narrative inquiry, phenomenological, qualitative study. 
Semi-structured questions will be used to interview participants via 
Zoom or telephone for approximately 90 minutes and is designed to 
accommodate diverse access needs.  A demographic questionnaire will 
be used for general demographic data.


Proposed Participant Compensation

No, participants are informed that they may pause, reschedule, or 
complete the interview in segments if needed. Participants are 
acknowledged meaningfully through personalized thank-you letters, 
inclusion in the final report, and access to study findings.
