Hello Darrin and all. Thanks for the information. I just want to let people know that the Prodigy Auto Code is a talking product, but it is not fully accessible for those who depend on setting it up with voice prompts. The date and time, at least, do not speak. The Prodigy Voice specifically, is accessible from setup to result. The Prodigy No Code strips do work for both
The Prodigy Voice, and the Prodigy Auto Code.

Good afternoon all,
I am aware of and use the following Prodigy talking blood glucose meter.
Prodigy 0038484051850 Autocode Talking Blood Glucose Monitoring Meter Autocodelack. It is available on Amazon and talks out of the box. You can buy the meter but also have to purchase Prodigy testing strips for the device. I will put a link to the device below so anyone can take a look at it:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002JLEXFQ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1
I have also used the Freestyle Libra CGM and currently use the Dexcom G7 CGM and find that the Dexcom is a bit more user friendly with applying the device and is fully accessible to Voice Over users. I have had to have a prescription to get either CGM system. The sensor for both would not interfere with a drummer's ability to play drums.

None of the models, prescription or otherwise boast screen reader compatibility. It may be buy and try. Perhaps this is something our Diabetes Action Network should try. I see two that do not require a prescription.

Hello Gary and all. My friend is a drummer, and with never having any experience with any of this, he is concerned about having something on his arm. Also, I am coming up with nothing on searches for screen reader compatibility on OTC GCM devices. Does anyone know if that compatibility exists, especially for Voiceover users?

He may find that a CGM is better if he doesn't want the continuous finger sticks. The CGM will tell him which foods elevate his sugar the fastest and how long it takes for the levels to return to normal.
Libre is a good one, and I understand there are some out there that do not require a prescription.
Warmly,
Gary

Hello all! I hope this email finds you well, with an excellent start to your 2026! A good friend of mine is asking about talking blood glucose monitors.
He has not been diagnosed as diabetic, but is pretty sure, that his doctor is going to suggest that he monitor his blood sugar for a few months, to ensure that everything is ok. He is asking which meters are the most accessible. My searching shows that the Prodigy Voice seems to be the most affordable and accessible option for this situation, but I thought I would reach out to see what information you all have so I canlead him in the right direction. Thanks for anything any of you might be able to share.

Congratulations, my friend. This year I will still delightedly be in the room. Where else can I watch fireworks in April and see one of my favorite people do something he has such an ability to do.
Warmly,
Gary
