[NFBMO] Announcement Regarding My Relocation and Leadership Transition

Dear Federation Family,

 

I am writing to share some personal news with all of you. Anneliese and I
will be relocating from St. Louis as I begin a new chapter in Chicago, where
I have accepted a position at Saint Xavier University. Because of this
transition, I have notified the NFB of Missouri Board of Directors that I
will be stepping down from my role as Second Vice President of the
affiliate, as well as any committee leadership roles I currently hold. My
last day serving in these roles will be June 14.

 

This is not an easy message to write. The National Federation of the Blind
of Missouri has been more than an organization to me. It has been a
community, a source of growth, and a place where I have learned what it
truly means to serve, advocate, and believe in the capacity of blind people.
I am deeply grateful for the friendships, mentorship, encouragement, and
trust so many of you have given me along the way. This truly is the
affiliate that brought me into the organized blind movement, and I will
continue to do the work of the federation with Illinois affiliate.

 

Serving this affiliate has been one of the greatest most  humbling honors of
my life. Whether through meetings, annual state conventions, Washington
seminars, technology trainings, committee work, or simply the conversations
we have shared, I have been shaped by this movement and by the people in it.
I will always carry those lessons with me. Although I am stepping down from
my leadership roles in Missouri, I am not stepping away from the values and
mission of the Federation. I remain proud of the work we have done together
and hopeful for all that is still ahead for the NFB of Missouri.

 

To the members: thank you. Thank you for showing up to your local chapter
meetings, committee meetings, participating in fundraisers, for your
vulnerability, your support, and your commitment to building a stronger
future for blind people across this state. I wish each of you, our chapters,
our divisions, our committees, and our affiliate continued strength, growth,
and success.
