to regularly report on the accessibility of the federal government’s technology for people with disabilities, although they had not previously done so since 2012. This biennial report is part of the federal government’s oversight mechanism for Section 508.

a new report. While the release of this information is a positive step, Chairman Casey has concerns about the format. Notably, the Chairman believes the “report” is mostly a data dump that lacks much of the important analysis found in DOJ’s 2012 report. Nevertheless,
the data includes important information. For example, an analysis shows that nearly one in 10 federal websites, at a broad range of federal agencies, are not fully accessible for people with disabilities. Further, Appendix A of the report indicates that the
Department of Veterans Affairs has the lowest ranked Section 508 compliance for public facing websites and is among the lowest ranked for internal websites.
