It is not tied to our upcoming State Convention.</span><br><span></span><br><span>I have in my possession a 40-cell Focus 5 refreshable Braille display from</span><br><span>Freedom Scientific. It is not brand-new, but it is gently used and just</span><br><span>this week it came back from the factory fully cleaned and refurbished. (Ten</span><br><span>of the Braille cells were replaced.) Everything functions as new.</span><br><span></span><br><span>For anyone who wants a chance to win this Braille display, you can purchase</span><br><span>one ticket in my raffle simply by making a contribution in the amount of</span><br><span>$20.00 to the NFB of Indiana. You do not need to be present at our State</span><br><span>Convention of 2025 to win.</span><br><span></span><br><span>The Focus 5 serves very capably as a "slave" Braille display when connected</span><br><span>to an external device such as a PC, phone, or tablet. It connects via</span><br><span>either Bluetooth or USB-C connection. But in addition, the Focus 5</span><br><span>contains a micro-SD card, and on that card you can store in read files that</span><br><span>are in Braille Ready Format (BRF). In this way I have read many Bookshare</span><br><span>offerings.</span><br><span></span><br><span>The display comes in a padded carrying case. When I originally purchased</span><br><span>the Focus 5 from Vispero near the end of 2022, I did not receive a charging</span><br><span>cord or adapter from the company. But I will include in the package the</span><br><span>Focus 5 in its carrying case, and I will throw in two USB-C cables that may</span><br><span>be used for charging this display: one cable with a large USB-A adapter on</span><br><span>one end and a USB-C adapter on the other end and the second cable which</span><br><span>will have a USB-C adapter on each end.
