Folks, I just learned that HB498, which changes the expiration date of
the state ID card from 4 to eight years was signed into law last
Friday.

We had hoped for a bill signing ceremony, but that didn't work out,
but the bill that the NFB of Montana conceived of and promoted is now
Montana law!

We should of course thank our sponsor Rep. Ellie Hill of Missoula for
her hard word on this bill. And also our appreciation to the Montana
Independent Living Coalition and Disability Rights Montana, both of
which supported this bill and testified as proponents.

Most of all, I thank all of you who made phone calls or sent in
e-mails to the folks who serve in our Legislature, either on the two
committees that considered the bill, or in the larger Legislature.
They voted for it and you did your job to make it real.

We can all be proud to be part of the NFB of Montana!
