[Nfbmt] IMPORTANT --the use of this discussion listserve

To whom it may concern: I don't know who DMGena is but she says no one can
go to any convention as a first time member without writing to the state
president first. I am, once again, confused. Mark and Ted both told me all
conventions are "public" and I can't be denied the right to go. I am sorry
to keep bringing this up but I keep getting new messages with different
information from what I've already been told and I just don't want to break
any rules. I am putting everyone on notice right now, at this point, I am
planning on going to the Maryland state convention next week. I have
already bought my plane ticket, I have made my hotel reservations and I have
arranged my transportation when I get there. If someone is changing the
rules now, it's a little late to be pulling the rug out from under me now.
I have gotten permission from Mark to go and I am going, final. Please
don't send me any more messages telling me I can't go
Sincerely,
Beccca .

Hi there,
When you are on a list serve as this group is, every one on this list gets
all messages.
To go to national as a first time member, anyone in any state has to write
to the state president to become a first time member. To share why they
would like to go to national.
As with any state, then the president state president as Jim is now, sends
the request to national so they can approve who comes.
Jim also puts in a request in this case on your behalf on why he feels you
would learn so much by going to the national convention.
It can be hard to go from one step to another, where this is what happens
for all of us.
I shared with you, because I am excited on behalf of national, where we were
asked to ask someone to come to the national convention.
I chose you, because I am hoping you would get as excited as I was going the
first time.
Not only to hear what President Mark Mauer has to say, where to see what all
of the venders have to bring.
Our state sells beef sticks, made from our state.
It sells well, because many folks have them for lunch.
We have a state that sells candy bars, one sells sizzers, so much happens, I
myself can't come up with everything.
One state sells a ticket for you to sing that evening.
I don't know if they pick a name and you get so much money or how it works.
Fun to listen for folks who love to sing.
Canes, one of the new things national does, is give a first cane free to
anyone who needs a cane.
If you go on the national site, you will find a store where you can buy
braille paper, plus much more.
I got a color identifier several years ago.
Now I have this on my phone, love to compare the two.
Yes some times the list can become quite active, I love to hear the
different ideas each person has to offer.
This is what it is all about, sharing with each other.
Threw the nfb I have built up my confidence to be able to share about
something that means more to me than words can say.
I hope you understand now why I shared that for a first time member send a
message to State President Jim Aldrich you will learn more from others as
well.
Keep smiling,
All falls into place.
