For this message, I am putting on my Legislative Director's hat.

As you may recall, we have been working to get Senator Tester to file an
amendment to include S. 346 in the National Defense Authorization Act
(NDAA).

While the House has already passed Space Available as an amendment to the
NDAA, it appears that the Senate will be handling the NDAA totally behind
closed doors and may not allow floor amendments.

We need members of our Montana affiliate to send emails to Senator Tester's
Legislative Director, Dylan Laslovich, to urge Senator Tester to file the
amendment to include S. 346 to the NDAA. I would appreciate it if you could
distribute the attached sample email to members of the Montana affiliate and
ask them to send an email by Tuesday, December 9. The email should be sent
to <mailto:dylan_laslovich at tester.senate.gov>
dylan_laslovich at tester.senate.gov. The Senate is expected to consider the
NDAA next week so it is important that the emails be sent to Mr. Laslovich
as soon as possible.

Thanks so much for your help!

See below for a sample email that you may use if you fill in the blanks, or
compose your own. Joy

Dear Mr. Laslovich,

I am a Montana resident, residing at , and I am writing to urge Senator
Tester to take the necessary steps to amend S. 346, Space Available, to the
National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

I appreciate Senator Tester's sponsorship of S. 346, which currently has 19
cosponsors and enjoys bipartisan support. However, as the current session of
Congress nears an end, the best way to get this legislation passed is to
amend it to the NDAA, as the House already has done.

S. 346 will provide 100 percent service disabled veterans from World War II,
and the Korean and Vietnam wars the same access to the Space Available
program as is currently available to retired military and to service
disabled veterans from more recent conflicts. Time is running out to correct
this inequity and I urge Senator Tester to honor the men and women who
became 100 percent disabled as a result of their service to our country by
filing the amendment to include S. 346 in the NDAA.

Sincerely,
