[Nfbmt] A ridiculous Question

Whatever any state raises their minimum wage to, it stands to reason that
subminimum wages will be lower than that, which only makes our point even
stronger. If people think that minimum wages should be increased in order
to give workers a decent living wage, imagine how those making subminimum
wages must feel. They don't have a chance to make a living wage. But if a
person is disabled or poverty stricken enough and qualifies thereby for
certain Federal or state Government help, like SSI or SSDI or Medicaid or
Medicare or SNAP or any one of a number of other programs, having their
wages raised to a certain level might disqualify them for whatever
income-based programs they would otherwise qualify for, and that may make
things worse for them financially than before. Aren't these some of the
concerns that might be raised concerning our quest for doing away with
subminimum wages? How will we answer such questions? Joy

It does matter that it is raised on Colorado and in Montana, because that
means that while nondisabled workers may actually be guaranted a state
minimum above the federal minimum wage, some disabled workers in those same
states are still paid below the federal minimum wage. The divide grows wider
and wider and we need to be the ones who bring a magnifing glass to this for
the public and to bring it to an end!
