National Federation of the Blind Applauds Senator McConnell's Appointment of
Neil Romano to National Council on Disability

Baltimore, Maryland (February 4, 2015): <http://www.nfb.org/> The National
Federation of the Blind today applauded the appointment of Neil Romano to
the National Council on Disability. Mr. Romano served as Assistant Secretary
of Labor for Disability Employment Policy under President George W. Bush and
has also served as a member of the Committee for Purchase from People Who
Are Blind or Severely Disabled. The appointment was made by Senator Mitch
McConnell of Kentucky with the endorsement of the National Federation of the
Blind and other stakeholders.

Mark Riccobono, President of the National Federation of the Blind, said:
"Mr. Romano is an outstanding public servant with a rich history of
supporting equality and high expectations for individuals with disabilities
in the workplace and beyond. The National Federation of the Blind was
pleased to recommend him to Senator McConnell and we are delighted that he
has been appointed to this important agency. We thank Senator McConnell for
listening to the National Federation of the Blind and other disability
advocates in making his selection for this position, not only because we
support Mr. Romano but because we appreciate sincere dialogue and
collaboration between elected leaders and Americans with disabilities."

About the National Federation of the Blind

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
