Hi, fellow Montana Federationists.

El Presidente here.

I would like to request a board meeting, hopefully a pretty short one.
There are a few things we need to go over before the National Convention in
July, and maybe you have some questions or comments that you think should be
addressed by the board. If you do, please let me or another board member
know. By the way, no board meeting I have ever held has been closed to the
membership, so if you want to call in and listen in, you can. We may not
have time for many many comments, but maybe if you ask me nice, I might give
you the floor. Or the boot.

So far, the only thing on the agenda is whether or how much to pay towards
the National convention expenses of anyone who wants to go, and decide how
many we can help with our meager funds.

Fundraising needs to happen soon. There is a fundraising committee that
needs to be meeting and sharing ideas and asking for help from the rest of
us.

Come on, yous guys. We had a whole fistful of great ideas when we first
formed this affiliate, and we're starting to get some things done, but not
nearly as many as we said we wanted to accomplish by the end of a year or
two. We are working on a brochure, we now have a web site that is limping
along, we have a presence on Newsline, we've been to the Washington Seminar
a couple of times, and we have a couple of chapters that meet monthly and do
. something. People are starving in India. Well, that's not quite what I
wanted to say, but it's what my parents always told me when I didn't want to
eat my spinach. But we do have people in our great and vast state who are
starving for the message that we have, the methods that we use, and the
momentum that we can raise if we just get excited about the potential we
have for changing our lives and the lives of others for the better. I want
to start a parents division and a student division and maybe a Senior
division, but I can't do it alone. I have some ideas but I will need some
help with them. I need your ideas and your willing hands and your
big-as-Montana-outdoors hearts to get involved and see what difference we
can make. We just saw a post about getting involved in our communities as
do-gooders, I mean doers of good deeds, and that seems like a great idea to
me. I think if we build it, they will come and join us. I'm starting to
hear from a few people who could use our help, but we have to have something
to offer them or they won't stick around long enough to benefit from it.

So anyway, back to the board meeting and I hope that didn't sound too much
like a lecture, because it wasn't meant to be. Let's try Monday evening
about six in the evening, same bat time, same bat station.

605-475-4000 Access code 948731# Hope it works better than it did for the
convention planning meeting we tried to have last night. The line was so
terrible we gave up.

So let's not give up. Come on, take a bite of spinach. Slather some butter
on it, or some vinegar, or some ice cream, whatever makes it taste better.
A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in a most delightful way.

Live the life you want

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back
