[Nfbmt] Want to go to National this year?

Hi Rik. This sounds great. 200, huh? That's a lot of beef sticks but go
for it, I say, if you wind up going and I, for one, like all your proposals
in your letter. So, if anyone wants a vote, I would vote to grant your
request for a partial scholarship to go:)

Good day, Federationists,
This is Rik.
I would accept $300 to help with a trip to Orlando.
So if the board finds itself with more applicants and one of them would
similarly accept $300, we can get more with getting help.
Rik

Here is my official letter.

I have not made final plans, but I would definitely really like to go to
this very significant 75th annual national convention. I could pay my own
way, but I would like to throw my hat in the ring to accept a little help
financially. And I propose to ask for $300, half of one of the 3 600 dollar
scholarships. My thinking is such that perhaps there may be another who
might also go with a lesser amount. If not, then I will accept a full 600.
But I really want more people to go.

As a condition of attending, with or without funding, I commit to the
following 7 things:

1 To attend all or at least most all the general sessions.
2 To attend and Montana delegation caucus meetings that are announced.
3 To spend some time on tasks as assigned by the delegate.
4 To spend time in the between times selling if that is needed. If we do
sell beef sticks, I would be prepared to sell 200.
5 To make at least 10 new acquaintances from outside our affiliate and get
their contact information.
6 To gather information on various subjects that are needed back here in
Montana. A list of which I should ask the board to provide.
7 To bring home my mind to write a report and submit it to members who were
not able to attend the convention.

Thank you for your consideration.

Respectfully submitted
Rik James

I've received some letters (emails) requesting funds to go to National, or
to help with going to National. Any more? Let's give it another week and
see how it goes. So let's say by midnight on March 22. Yes, that's an
arbitrary deadline I pulled out of the air. I guess I can do that as El
Presidente. If I am still doing this next year, I'll have it better
organized in my head and let everybody know what the rules of the game are
before we play. That's only fair. Joy

Hi, y'all.

The National Federation of the Blind of Montana has up to six hundred
dollars worth of state funds for each of three people to attend the National
Convention. It won't cover all your expenses, but it certainly should help
some. If you want to go, please write me a letter (an email is fine, but
don't send it to the list, send it directly to me), and we'll have a board
meeting and decide which ones of the thousands of entries we will award the
money money money to. Well, ok, maybe I exaggerate a little, but I hope we
get at least . three requests?

My email is bjb5757 at bresnan.net.

So there you have it, boys and girls. Let's start making some things
happen. If I have to party by myself in Orlando I sure will, but I'd rather
have you along. Just remember, what happens in Orlando stays in Orlando.
