I didn't know if it was something the convention committee wanted to tackle,
or the board, or if I should get out my pointy finger. What say you, Jim
Aldrich? Does someone from your chapter want to go? I'd love to go, but
maybe somebody else who is an emerging leader should go instead. Joy

Joy,
This is a good thing. Do you have any one in mind, or is there
someone that would like to volunteer? Possibly someone from Billings would
be a good candidate, especially with the convention being in Billings this
next year.
This would be a quick turnaround for yourself (after the Washington
Seminar).

Please see the below message from Danielle Trevino:

Dear Fellow Federationists:

For a majority of our members, national convention is a time when we all come
together to catch up, to exchange ideas, and to get inspired. We all go home
rejuvenated and fired up to further the movement of the National Federation
of the Blind. Though on a smaller scale, state conventions are meant to do
much of the same; they are a time to grow, to learn, and to get motivated to
further our noble cause.

Our seventy-fifth year was officially amazing, and as we enter into our
seventy-sixth, our President has asked us to keep the momentum going. So it
is with that spirit and energy that we are planning to host a seminar to
teach the essential elements of planning and executing a successful affiliate
convention.

Your input and recommendations are important as we develop the agenda for
this one-of-a-kind seminar. First, please submit nominations for emerging
leaders within your state to attend this seminar which will be held in
Baltimore on February 19 and 20, 2016. As we have a number of relatively new
affiliate presidents, you may want to nominate yourself. Please examine the
suggested criteria for nominees. President Riccobono will be selecting the
final mix of leaders for this seminar. Please submit your nominations by
December 10, 2015. Second, please submit your suggestions for the most
pressing topics we should include in this seminar to help leaders produce
outstanding conventions.

Please reply to this message to make your nominations and suggestions.
Nominees should be individuals who will be playing a significant role in the
planning of the next affiliate convention (the goal is to start putting these
new skills to work). Ideal candidates will be individuals who will have a
role to plan in many conventions to come. In your nominations, please
include:

Nominee Information:

Name

Phone Number

Email Address

In a few sentences, explain the leadership role he or she will be filling in
the planning and execution of your next affiliate convention (fall 2016 or
spring 2017), and why you think he or she would benefit from attending this
seminar.

Finally, what topics would you think most beneficial for us to cover during
this seminar to plan conventions? Please use this space to let us know what
would be most helpful.

We look forward to hearing from you and to working with you and your nominees
to continue to build our Federation. As always, feel free to reach out with
any questions or concerns.
