This may interest some of you. Joy

We wanted to provide you with an update on the Orbit Reader. Our rigorous quality control efforts continue. In order to provide you with the best quality device, we have been working closely with the manufacturer to make sure the Orbit Reader is reliable and sturdy. The technology used to activate the pins that make up the Braille cells is new, and in a small percentage of the devices, there have been some issues with them caused by minute variations in the plastic parts that make up the Braille cells. This has meant that manufacturing has been slowed in order to perform some additional quality control checks to eliminate these issues.

Therefore, your ongoing patience is appreciated. We will not have any Orbit Readers available at the NFB Convention this year. We will continue to demand the best of this device before making it available.

Hope to see you all at convention.

Regards,

The National Federation of the Blind is a community of members and friends who believe in the hopes and dreams of the nation's blind. Every day we work together to help blind people live the lives they want.

Live the life you want

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
