Please remember to call in if you want to learn how to do FaceBook and
Twitter for the benefit of the NFB of Montana. Thanks to Travis for
volunteering to host this teaching conference call. What would really be
nice is if we could have a one-on-one with an instructor and a computer, but
lacking that, this should still be educational and informative. Participants
should have a basic knowledge of computers and the internet. I would like to
see us cover the topics pretty well in an hour, so we should keep our talking
to a minimum and let the time be a teaching and learning time. Those of us
who will attend, including me, already know we don't know how to do social
media, so saying so repeatedly is not going to be of use to any of us or help
us learn what I would like us to learn in the time we have for this
conference call. Thank you.

Subject: how to do social media

Hello, everyone.

In order to facilitate our communications presence on social media, I have
asked Travis Moses to chair a conference call on FaceBook and Twitter for
Dummies. This will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at 6:00 P.M. Hopefully
this won't take longer than an hour. Interested attendees should have a
basic knowledge of computer and internet skills. I think it would be
effective if someone from each chapter was represented. We should have a
social media point person for the affiliate. Then we can funnel news to that
person about what our chapters are doing, when the meetings are, what our
fundraisers are, etc. I put that information on NFB Newsline, but not
everybody accesses that, and our social media presence would be more for the
benefit of those who don't know about us yet, or those who do but want to
stay informed and up to date on what we are doing and planning to do in
Montana. There is a current campaign going on on social media where
individuals can post "why I am a Federationist." Sharing memorable personal
stories is one way to recruit new members.

Live the life you want

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
