Subjects will vary naturally according to the interests and desires of those
who participate. 

 

Of particular interest to us I should think is of the Montana budget
shortfall, and the likely upcoming special session of our state legislature
to deal with it.

Of most concern to us is what may happen to services to persons in our
Treasure State who are blind and low vision. There is considerable
discussion and speculation that there may be a consolidation of the
rehabilitation services. After historic efforts to advocate for and get
blindness services into its own division, currently known as Blind and Low
Vision Services, if such a consolidation is imminent, we in the Federation
must plan and prepare to be effective to do what we can in our consumer
group.

 

So, I would heartily suggest that each of you prepare, and come to the
meeting next Thursday night with ideas and suggestions, and be ready to
discuss this matter.

I feel it is a very critical time. All hands on deck!

 

Please contact me in advance to let me know if you are planning to call in
for the meeting, and what you would like to do at the meeting.

I would love for some of you to take the lead in the discussion and take one
or more aspects of this topic, to coordinate and guide our strategy for our
affiliate.

This is not a passive type of discussion. Rather it is a time to activate
and to be actively participating.
