FYI,

She is most interesting to listen to and she has written about a fellow in Butte in the early 1900’s that is most interesting.

.Greetings”

Wow, what a way to start the month of July!

The Blind History Lady was one of six to win the Jacob Bolotin award from the National Federation of the Blind at its annual convention on Sunday, July 8, 2018 in Orlando, Florida. The award came with a cash prize that was great. The funds will help me to visit the distant sites where the original documents related to our blind ancestors are hidden away.

But also, the award represents to me, recognition of my work. I grew up in the Federation and it is a family for me. As a genealogist, we often find that family are the most resistant to learning from our research. To have the recognition of my NFB family is moving in so many ways for me. I cannot thank the Bolotin Committee enough for their faith in my work.

The New Mexico Group-Blinded Veterans Association also honored me this month. The Blind History Lady was featured in their June newsletter that came out the beginning of July. This group has invited me in the past to speak to them regarding the history of the blind of New Mexico and been most supportive of my work. I look forward to seeing some of them and encourage them to stop by my booth, on August 4, at the Health and Wellness Fair of the National Veterans Golden Age Games at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

My thanks to all of you who have promoted The Blind History Lady through your organizations and students. Thank you for allowing me to speak, in person or via telephone to your organizations or groups about our blind ancestors. I appreciate you very much!
