FYI the Friends of Rehab Bulletin.  Check out the new Bureau of Blind and
Low Vision Services.  This places BLVS in a higher, more autonomous position
within state government.  Previously, BLVS functioned like a region within
the five region general vocational rehabilitation program.  I think this is
very positive news!

DET Announces New Blind and Low Vision Services Bureau

DET is excited to share that a Blind and Low Vision Services (BLVS) Bureau
is being developed using existing division resources. The Bureau will meet
the unique needs of individuals who experience blindness or low vision. The
BLVS bureau will include Vocational Rehabilitation Services for individuals
who experience blindness and low vision,  the Older Blind Program, and the
Business Enterprise Program. A specific knowledge base and skill set is
required to oversee these programs which includes direct provision of
training skills necessary for adjustment to blindness. DET will begin
recruiting for a Bureau Chief to lead and manage the bureau within the

Employment and Transition offices in the state are temporarily closed to the
