Hey Montana members.
Thanks for being so kind and gracious and good to each other at last
weekend's statewide virtual affiliate convention. We may have come up with a
bunch of new ideas. We may have heard about a lot of new things we had not
yet known. And we may have decided once again that it is a very good thing
indeed, to be a part, and play an active role, in the thing we call this
movement, The National Fedearation of the Blind. Some may not yet know it,
but a lot of people could know it more, with more attention paid to getting
the word out.

That is one thing I took from our convention. That we each of us, need to
reach out more, and to reach out, what does that mean? It might mean
something different for each of us certainly. But it does seem clear that
whatever that thing is, we are not doing it as well as we need to be, to
grow our affiliate here in Montana.

I am not your best role model. But once in a while, when I am most honest, I
will take the time, and do a self-assessment. If you want to coach me, and
you want to be coached in doing your own self-assessment, maybe you could
join a chapter. And might that chapter be the Treasure State At-Large
Chapter? Well, maybe. And if so, come on in, and participate in next
Friday's virtual chapter meeting.
I guess, like they say in the radio world, stay tuned. A link to join us via
the Zoom will be posted sometime in your nearby future. Meanwhile, post
some thoughts you have, or jot them down in your own little notebook, and
bring them to the group next Friday, October 8, at 3:00 p.m. at the
statewide at-large chapter meeting.

In closing, there is a by-line I have been hearing all season in the MLB
games that I listened to. It is part of an ongoing department of
transportation campaign in Ohio. Hard to believe it, but there is still a
need to get people to use a seat belt when riding in an automobile. Or is
it? Do you use a seatbelt? Or do you still think that is taking away your
freedom? Anyway, the by-line. That was what I meant to tell you about. They
say, "If you are not using your seatbelt, what is holding you back?" And
they are using super emphasis on the word , "YOU!"

All that to say, join us. What is to hold you back? You know that you have
talents. You know that you have a general can do attitude when it comes to
blindness. Buckle up, and buckle down to the serious work we have yet to do.

Have a great weekend, everybody.
