National Federation of the blind Miami Valley chapter December 2016 through December 2017 activity log
December 2016: new member Melanie Burba.
Election of new officers and holiday celebration-carry in at Christ Episcopal church
January 2017: new member Joe Carson
New officers are now in place and planning activities for the year with the assistance of all members
Setting up committees and determining how to make things work to meet the needs of all members
February 2017: Sheila Hardy -Wilson, Took on the awesome responsibility of our May spaghetti dinner and developed her committee and purchased tickets for the event
Guess speakers: Walter Mitchell, Cincinnati Chapter newsline coordinator Ohio NFB present it to our group.
Blind Bob-restaurant owner scheduled to attend could not make it.
First partnership with opportunities for Ohioans with disabilities Dayton office, Goodwill in Easter Seals, And the Nfb Miami Valley chapter.

New member: Amy BAnano join this committee along with Karen Fried Vogel, Karen Warner, Wanda sloan, and Dr. Carolyn Peters. All members made this event a great success the planning began in March thank you ever so much.
April 2017: Numa member Shalonda Mueller
Guess speaker: blind bob-restaurant owner schedule-meeting time not a good time for him? Planning and thoughts again for spaghetti dinner fundraiser picnic-Dr. peters reserve park. Following up on plans for national conference to be held in Orlando most people have scheduled their rooms are ready and arrange their air transportation
May 2017: new member Gary Ann Williams.
No business meeting held.
Enjoyed spaghetti dinner
Entertainment: Lawrence He It, piano.
Jonathan Knowles and Wanda sloan songs.
June 2017: we met at the library on Wayne Avenue. Michael Anderson spoke to our group about a fund raiser Karen Fried Vogel and others divided up NFB materials and gave each member a stack of materials to distribute personally. Getting ready for the national convention
July 2017-no business meeting members attending national Federation of the blind national convention-Orlando Florida
August 2017: Miami Valley chapter picnic miss Gary and Williams really stepped out and helped us put this together she coordinate this event along with vice President Janine Pickens it was outstanding. Dr. Peters reserve the park, also schedule the tandem bike riders everyone enjoyed a day of fellowship and fun
Amy BAnano was a part of the coordinating team for the picnic and had to relinquish her duty for personal reasons.
September 2017: we had our regular business meeting discussing the national convention the picnic and the upcoming diabetes workshop at Sinclair community college also we discussed meet the blind month Janine Pickens vice president wanted an outing at blind bobs restaurant. Also they McCormick vision fear committee invited all members to division fear to be held in October for meet the blind month also. We will not have a business meeting in the month of October in Lou of the McCormick vision fear to be held at Goodwill industries
October 2017:10 members met at the vision and resource fair at Goodwill industries on October 12, 2017 we had a wonderful time fellowship being with others that were visiting and vendors everyone there had an opportunity to meet the blind from the Miami Valley chapter thank you for a job well done we been invited back for next year the McCormick vision fair was a great success in FB, Ohio state convention held at Doubletree Columbus Worthington Ohio Miami valley Chapter had 10 members present and one volunteer. It was an outstanding, awesome event Robert Spangler presented and I T workshop made a presentation to the body. Dr. Peters presented the rookie round up and the membership committee meeting. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely. Hope moore will attend next year
November 2017: November will be our last business meeting of the year. We have a guest speaker Mrs. Ashley Shaw and possibly her mother Mys it’s Shaw from cited children’s club. We will discuss the state convention and thoughts and ideas chapter members have for the upcoming new year everyone is asked to bring their $20 for dinner at the MCL cafeteria in Kettering Ohio the holiday dinner was planned and organized by Mrs. Shirleymcdowell
We have dance so very much this year if I have overlooked anything or anyone please share this information at the November meeting Everything is important and everyone is important thank you so very much for all you do and all that you are willing to do best regards Dr. Carolyn Peters
