Disability 101 for Professionals: What You Need to Know About
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)

Thursday, January 30th, 2020: (12:30 PM to 4 PM)

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) programs are the largest of several Federal programs that provide assistance to people with disabilities. While these two programs are different in many ways, both are administered by the Social Security Administration and only individuals who have a disability and meet medical criteria may qualify for benefits under either program.

This workshop is designed for those who assist clients, patients, and colleagues with these Social Security Disability programs. The session will review eligibility guidelines for both SSDI and SSI programs. We will cover application options, appeals, and processing of SSI and SSD monthly payments benefits.

Our session will also give a special focus to the Social Security disability decision-making process. Representatives from Ohio’s Division of Disability Determination in Columbus will present on how claims are approved/denied, Compassionate Allowances and Fast Track cases, and how professionals may assist in the submission of medical evidence and information.

Our presenters will also discuss Social Security online resources (including the mySocialSecurity account), summarize post-eligibility issues such as work limits and representative payee considerations, and review how professionals can best assist their clients in navigating the Social Security system.

Register ASAP to attend this informative and timely session!
