The National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska will again be providing a
bus to this year’s State Convention in North Platte. The bus will depart
Omaha on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at approximately 1:15 pm. The first
pick up point will be at the College of St. Mary, and the second one will
be in Lincoln, at the Commission for the Blind offices. The bus should
arrive in North Platte at approximately 7:00 pm that same evening. The
trip, including other passenger pick up points, yet to be determined, and
any other breaks should be approximately six and a half hours. Following
the convention, the bus will depart at 12:30 pm, following the conclusion
of the Sunday morning session, on October 27, 2013. The bus will arrive in
Omaha, its final destination, at approximately 5:40 pm.

The price for the round trip will be $100.00 per person for all
reservations made before October 1st. All reservations received after
October 1st will be at the higher rate of $120.00, so it would be
worthwhile to have your reservations in early. In keeping with the company
policies of Fontenelle Tours, any reservations canceled before October 1,
2013, are fully refundable. However, there will be a fee assessed for any
reservations canceled after this date. These excellent rates for travel are
made possible through the assistance of your state affiliate of the
National Federation of the Blind of Nebraska, and the generosity of
Fontenelle Tours.

This year there is an important change regarding bus reservations. All bus
reservations are to be made through your NFBN affiliate. For the first
time, you will be able to make your bus reservations at the same time you
are registering for convention and purchasing your banquet tickets. Visit
http://www.ne.nfb.org/convention_reg<http://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ne.nfb.org%2Fconvention_reg&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEKIxAO-N21Rc0SuZb_4OFk3Om4ZA>to
register for convention and reserve your spot on the bus. Don’t delay!
The deadline for registering, purchasing banquet tickets and making your
reservation for the bus at the discounted price is October 1, 2013. Please
remember, room reservations are handled separately from those for the bus,
and the last day that you can make a room reservation, and be assured that
one will be available at the excellent rates being offered to the NFBN, is
October 10, 2013. For hotel reservations, call (308) 532-9090. Be sure to
mention the National Federation of Nebraska in order to receive the
convention discount rate of $68.00 per night.

Bus reservations will be on a first come, first serve basis, and it is
critical that we have a minimum of 30 passenger reservations by October
1st, otherwise, the bus will have to be canceled. Your reservation will be
confirmed upon receipt of your payment. For the first time, you will be
able to make your payment for the bus using your credit card. Should you
wish to pay by check or money order, a paper registration form can be
printed from the convention page on our web site or by contacting Cheryl
Livingston at: (402) 488-2509.

Also, when making your reservations for the bus, please indicate the type
of payment, and whether you are having your travel expenses paid through
the Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired. Clients of the
Commission should discuss these details with their counselors prior to the
making of reservations. It is preferable that all Commission clients and
any staff members planning to use the bus, have their bus reservations made
directly, using the website, and pay with a credit card.

There is only seating for 47 passengers available, and therefore, please
make your reservations early to guarantee you have a seat. Some seats may
still be available after the deadline, due to cancellations, so you are
certainly encouraged to check if you are running late in making your
reservations, but remember that the bus filled up very quickly last year.

To ensure that possible problems related to planning the pick up points, or
at each of the pick up points along the route on the day of departure, can
be managed effectively, all passengers are asked to provide their home
address; a cell or home telephone number, where they can be reached; and
their personal or work e-mail address if available. Should an individual be
late arriving to the scheduled pick up point, and we do not have a means by
which to contact the person directly, it will not be possible to delay the
bus for more than a few minutes. Please help us to assure that you will
have every opportunity to successfully meet the bus.

The bus will be departing from Omaha, at approximately 1:15 pm, on
Thursday, October 24, 2013, and the pick up point will be, the College of
St. Mary. Please plan to be to the pick up point at least half an hour
early, to allow for loading time. The college campus is located at the
corner of 72nd street and Mercy Road in Omaha. We depart from the south
east corner down by the soccer field. Turn off of 72nd street, then turn
east on Mercy Road, and in approximately one block on your left (North)
will be the entrance marked by a large sign. The entrance road ends in a
large circle, turn right (east) off of the circle. Go through the first
parking lot to the east most lot down by the athletic field fence. That is
where we can leave cars and load the bus.

The bus will depart Lincoln at approximately 2:45 pm, please plan to be at
least half an hour early to assure there will be time for loading. The bus
will depart from the parking lot located in front of the Nebraska
Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired office, located at 4600
Valley Road, Suite 100. Should you need directions to this location, please
contact Jeff Altman in the evenings at (402) 489-9458, or call the
Commission in Lincoln, during regular business hours, at (402) 471-2891.

Those individuals meeting the bus west of Lincoln will need to make their
own arrangements to reach the closest pick up point to your home along the
I-80 interstate. As reservations are confirmed, these pick up points will
be selected, and every effort will be made to make them as convenient and
efficient as possible. An announcement regarding the locations of these
pick up points will be made once bus reservations are completed, and they
will likely be similar to those utilized in previous years. If you are a
client of NCBVI, please speak with your counselor to see if assistance with
transportation to the pick up points, or any additional over night lodging,
is possible, should your financial situation be of concern.

We are looking forward to a wonderful trip, and another great convention.
Please join us, and make your reservations as soon as possible.
