The Nebraska Center for the Blind is hiring for a Shop Instructor and a
Client Resource Counselor! 

 

The Nebraska Center for the Blind is a program of the Nebraska Commission
for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NCBVI). The Center is a full-time
comprehensive training program for adults approved by the National Blindness
Professional Certification Board as a Structured Discovery Training Center.
We serve primarily Nebraska residents who are either vocational
rehabilitation (VR) or older individuals who are blind (OIB) clients. We
also provide training to new employees of NCBVI, and occasionally VR clients
from outside of Nebraska. Client enrollment is limited to 10 students at a
time to maintain small class sizes. 

 

The Shop Instructor and Client Resource Counselor positions are open until
filled. Each position requires a Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant
experience, or a Master's degree and 1 year of relevant experience. In
addition, the successful applicant will complete 600 hours of paid
sleepshade training in order to earn their Certification as a Vocational
Rehabilitation Counselor for the Blind. Both positions are full-time and are
located in Lincoln. These are jobs with the State of Nebraska and benefits
include: 13 paid holidays, 156% employer match on retirement, and the state
pays 79% of health insurance premiums. Additional benefits include $20,000
employee life insurance policy, and tuition reimbursement.
