Hello All,

Thank you Mark for sending out the information for Saturday! Here are a few
more details which I had sent out last year. We will plan to meet at the
same picnic table tomorrow. We will have water available. It's supposed to
be warm with a high of 88, so please come prepared. Excited to see everyone
tomorrow!

Please plan to meet at our designated location at 9:30 a.m. We will begin
the walk at 10:15 a.m. The walk will take us around the lake which is 2.3
miles long. We will meet just inside the first Entrance of Holmes Lake as
you are traveling south on 70th street. It will be the first driveway after
70th and Normal heading south. Shortly after the driveway there is a large
tree with two picnic tables under it on the left side. This is where we
will meet and this is where the walking trail begins.

If taking Uber/Lyft:

Enter the north entrance of Holmes Lake. The drop off will be the first
picnic tables on the left. A small parking lot is located a little farther
west of the drop off spot.

If taking the bus:

The bus stop is at the northwest corner of 70th & Holmes Park Road. The bus
arrives just after 9:28 a.m. Once you get off the bus walk south, which is
the direction the bus is facing, and cross the first driveway you come to.
After crossing that driveway turn right into the park and walk until you hit
the gravel path.

There is a port-a-potty across from the meeting area for those who are so
inclined. Water will be available. Someone will be at the picnic tables
throughout the walk to answer questions.

Subject: [NFBN-Lincoln] Directions to Saturday's Walk for Independence at
Holmes Lake

Good evening Federationists and Friends,

The Lincoln Chapter's Walk for Independence is almost here! Those of you who
participated in last year's walk at Holmes Lake may remember how beautiful
the day was, how well maintained the walking path was, how nice it feels to
take walks a little closer to nature and a bit further from traffic, or
maybe you just remember the wonderful time spent with your Federation
family. This year we are expecting another beautiful day. We can also expect
another wonderful morning walking for independence with our Federation
family, but this year we have the joy of raising money for our state
affiliate as well.

For those planning to come by bus, the #40 (Heart Hospital) has a stop at
Holmes Park Road, which is just north of the entrance to the park. The #40
leaves downtown (11th and L) at ten after the hour each hour. The 9:10 bus
should arrive at Holmes Park Road at about 9:30AM. For those of you arriving
by car, I believe parking was plentiful last year. Are goal is to be
gathered by 10AM and begin walking by 10:15AM. There are rumors that another
event in Lincoln on Saturday afternoon might compete for people's attention
on Saturday, so for the benefit of those Federationists that bleed Husker
red we don't want to get started too late.

When you enter the park, there is a path that leads down towards the lake.
About half way between the start of the path and where the path links to
the walking path that goes around the lake, there were a couple of picnic
tables where we gathered before and after the walk last year. If these
tables are available, we will meet there. If not, we will have to make
enough joyous noise for everyone to find each other.

President Richey and Kimberly have both sent out emails with additional
information on the walk. I am pasting the registration information below. I
hope to see you Saturday!

Mark
