Federationists,

A few people have asked if the mobile application that we're developing will be available for Android devices. The answer right now is: we don't know. When you submit your ideas for what you'd like the app to be able to do, please include what platform you use (either iOS or Android).

The deadline to submit ideas for the first version is March 15.

For those of you who were not at Washington Seminar—and for those who may have forgotten—here is what Dr. Maurer shared at the Great Gathering:

"We in the National Federation of the Blind know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines us or our future. Every day, we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and their dreams.

"Our number-one goal is to grow this Federation. We need to teach others about the exciting work that we're doing to increase equality for the blind. So, if we develop a mobile application, what should it do so that we can teach more people about who we are and what we believe? What should do? What should we be able to create with it? How can this be truly useful?

"For the next month we are inviting members to submit ideas about how you would use a mobile app to enhance participation in our organization. One of our members—Corbb O'Connor, now from Kentucky—is collecting and synthesizing this information.

"Please email your ideas to: mobileapp at nfb.org by March 15. It is our hope to have version 1.0 available later this year."

I'm eager to read your ideas!
