The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

Hello,

We are inviting participants for our online survey study, "Understanding how blind and low vision people collect, access, and use their personal health data." We hope that the findings from this research will inform the design of more accessible personal health applications. This research is being conducted by Kyungyeon Lee at the University of Maryland, College Park and colleagues.

Blind and low-vision people living in the U.S. who are interested in their personal health data (e.g., exercise, sleep, diet, heart rate, weight, and blood pressure data) can participate in our study. They must be at least 18 years old. Since our survey is conducted online, they should be able to participate in the survey using computers or mobile devices. However, we will offer the option of completing the survey by phone so that those who aren't comfortable with the online survey can also participate in our survey.

The survey may take about 20 minutes to complete. Participants will be asked questions about their demographics (i.e., age, gender, ethnicity, race, education, level of visual impairment), how they collect, access, and use health data, and associated challenges.

To thank the participants, we will provide Amazon gift cards by raffling. We will give out a $50 Amazon gift card to two participants and a $20 Amazon gift card to ten participants.

If you qualify and are interested in our study, please click the survey link:

Also, we offer a phone survey. Please contact the investigator if you prefer to do the survey verbally.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the investigator: Kyungyeon Lee, University of Maryland, College Park, kylee at umd.edu<mailto:kylee at umd.edu>, 301-683-8929.

Thank you,
Kyungyeon
