The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

Hi,

We are a team of accessibility researchers at the University of Washington exploring: (1) the relationship among dark patterns and accessibility barriers in online services, and (2) the disproportionate negative impacts of dark patterns on the experiences of people with disabilities.

A Dark Pattern is an interface design choice implemented to influence a person into performing behaviors that they likely would not otherwise perform.

As part of this work, we are hoping to talk with blind and low-vision individuals who use assistive technology (e.g., a screen reader) when using online services. If you participate in this study, you will be compensated with a $30 Amazon Gift Card for a 1-hour virtual interview.

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this interest form.<https://forms.gle/QSWJcfaH116ZVPv3A>

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Aaleyah Lewis at: alewis9 at cs.washington.edu<mailto:alewis9 at cs.washington.edu>.

Thanks for your interest!
