Greetings,

The below research participant solicitation is being provided for informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.

Participate in a Research Study:

Health Literacy and Health Behaviors of Low-Vision and Blind People

Principal Investigator Name and Title: Soyoung Choi, PhD, RN

We are currently seeking research participants who self-identify as a low-vision or blind person and aged older than 18. The overarching goal of this research is to obtain invaluable health-related information from low-vision or blind persons, thereby enriching our collective understanding of the unique challenges and needs they encounter concerning health literacy and health behaviors. The findings from the survey will be used for developing health interventions and educational programs for low-vision and blind populations.
To be eligible for this study, participants must: (1) be 18 years or older, (2) have low vision or blindness in both eyes such as severe vision loss interrupting daily tasks and blindness, and (3) be able to speak and read in English.
Our online survey has been carefully designed to be fully accessible, compatible with screen readers, and adaptable to various assistive technologies. We hold the confidentiality and anonymity of respondents in the highest regard. As a small token of our gratitude, participants who complete the survey will be eligible for a $50 compensation. This study is overseen by the Institutional Review Board at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
