Paid research study - Data Collection with Visual Assistance App

Hi all!

We are recruiting participants with experiences in using AI-powered or crowd-powered visual assistance applications (e.g, BeMyEyes, GPT-V, Bard, SeeingAI, AIRA) for a data collection study. This study will involve an onboarding interview (1hr, zoom), data collection (2-5 weeks, using the application that we developed), and an exit interview (1hr, zoom).

In the onboarding interview you will be asked demographic and background questions about your experiences using the visual assistance applications and install our applications. For data collection, you have to use our application (a chat interface for asking questions about the photos you take) for at least 2 weeks. Using the application will take less than 5 minutes each day. In the exit interview, you will be asked about your experience of using the application.

You will receive digital gift cards of your preferred currency for the completion of the study ($68 for using the application for 2 weeks, maximum $110).

To participate, you must be 18 years old or older, be blind or low vision, and use a screen-reader to access your computer or mobile phone. This study has been approved by The University of Texas at Austin Institutional Review Board. You should also be able to utilize zoom or other video conferencing tools to participate in the interview.

If you would like to participate, or if you have any questions about the study, please email at minahuh at utexas.edu<mailto:minahuh at utexas.edu>.

Thank you!
