AI to Support Travel Planning and Navigation for Blind and Low Vision
Individuals
The below research participant solicitation is being provided for
informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has

contribute to our research mission.
Research Title: Investigating the Use of Generative AI to Support
Travel Planning and Navigation for Blind and Low Vision Individuals
Being conducted by: Monash University
Purpose of the Study
We plan on investigating the use of generative AI and other related
tools for travel-related purposes. We hope to learn how, why, and
when participants use AI-based tools and how they compare with
traditional O&M tools.
Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study
They will be asked to participate in an anonymous, online study that
will take around 15 minutes to complete. At the end of the study, the
participants will be asked whether they would be interested in a
follow-up interview (45 minutes) to further explore their recent
travel experiences, the response to this question, and the
respondent's email will be collected as a part of the reimbursement
draw survey mentioned below.
Proposed Participant Compensation
Yes, Participants can optionally enter a draw to receive 1 of 10 $25
AUD (Australian dollars) gift cards. The email details of the
participants for the survey will be collected separately in another
survey to protect the anonymity of the survey response.
