The national Federation of the blind deaf blind division has urgent need for
more volunteer sSP's for this year's national convention. If people are
interested in doing this, either please fill out the form on the convention
page. If you do fill out that form please email me to let me know that
you've done so. If you have questions or just wish to sign up directly with
me. Please send an email with the subject line NFBSSP 2025 , My  email

If someone does not have email but it's attending convention in person and
wishes to volunteer as a volunteer SSP, you may also text me with the same
information that I asked for above. That text message Number is
661-491-4341. Please note you must be 18 years or older and a member of the
national Federation of the blind. And you must of course agree to our code
of conduct.

 

Because there have been some questions a volunteer SSP is there to help
Guide people from say general session to the hotel restaurant. I possibly
help provide communications between the person they're guiding and the hotel
restaurants staff. Basically anything that the professional interpreters do
not do since they only deal with official meetings seminars agenda items. If
anyone has a question about the exact duties again please do not hesitate to
reach out and ask me what those duties are? Thanks to your volunteering to
help out a deaf blind convention attendee Will make convention enjoyable for
all of us.

 

PS it would be helpful if you know how to use a refreshable Braille display
or A notetaker. This is just in case we do get someone we need to match you
with who may only know braille and or only use sign. Thank you in advance
