<p class="MsoNormal">Purpose of the Study</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">We are developing an effective, low-cost, totally automated, real-time method of converting and rendering BVI accessible graphics. Part of the interface is a visual computer screen rendered to be accessible for those with low vision. We want to allow users to select between a small set of appropriate color palettes so as not to overwhelm them with choices. The few palettes offered need to allow any low vision user to be able to select an acceptable choice for their condition, including those who may be low vision and color blind. Surprisingly, no research appears to be done in determining effective color palettes for low vision users for diagrams (i.e., more colors than the two used for text and background). This is the last of a series of studies where we were able to obtain feedback from low vision participants. We hope to extend our reach to capture low vision users with rarer conditions (for example, those with both low vision and color blindness). The intention is to be able to define a small set of color palettes from which it is been verified that low vision participants can select an adequate color palette for themselves.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">In this study, participants will be asked to take part in an online survey about potential color palettes:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">1. They will be asked about the effectiveness of different color palettes for their preferred background color (black or white), as well as rank the use of colors within the palette.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">2. They will then be asked to rank the color palettes.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">3. They will then be asked about their general visual impairment condition, including color blindness. This will help ensure we gather information from individuals with a wide variety of blindness conditions.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Proposed Participant Compensation</p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Yes, The survey is anonymous, but participants are provided with a link at the end of the study to submit contact details to enter a raffle. The winner of the raffle will be compensated $125 through either Candex (an online payment method we are required to use, but is not screen reader friendly) or mailed check (their choice).</p>
