The National Federation of the Blind has no involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our research mission.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Research Title: Dismantling Accessibility Barriers Between Visually Impaired Social Media Users and Digital Art<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Being conducted by: Rochester Institute of Technology<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Purpose of the Study<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The purpose of this research study is to gain a better understanding of the digital art consumption habits of internet users who are blind or visually impaired. To do this, we will analyze current methods for engaging with digital artwork, accessibility barriers encountered during the process, and user needs and desires for future assistive technologies.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Participants will take a fully accessible 10-15 minute long survey about their experiences with digital art. At the end of the survey, participants may choose to leave their contact information for a follow-up interview and screen-sharing activity. The interview will ask participants to elaborate on their answers from the survey and share a piece of artwork that they recently found on the internet.
