This is intended to bring together multiple perspectives and eventually will be used to derive design guidelines and strategies for future household robots to ensure that they are accessible for blind and low-vision individuals.

Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study

The study will take 2 hours, and be held at the University of Washington on August 22nd, though let us know if alternative dates work better for you. Participants will spend this time discussing challenges with communication with state-of-the-art household robots. Participants will get the chance to work with 1-2 real robots in our lab to demonstrate these challenges and assist in the brainstorming process. Participants will then collaboratively design new communication strategies (audio and/or haptic-based) that will improve robots' usability within blind and low-vision populations. Participants will then present their final ideas/prototypes. There will be a total of 15 participants at the study.

Proposed Participant Compensation

Yes, $90 in either cash or Venmo/PayPal/etc

Link or Instructions for Participants to Enter the Study

Participants interested should reach out to ujjaini@utexas.edu or minahuh@berkeley.edu.
